Biography

Dr. Dmitrii Kalinin is a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Chemistry for Health Sciences at the University of Galway. He earned his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Münster, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Southern Denmark, and previously held a Group Leader (PI) position at the University of Münster.

His research focuses on drug discovery at the interface of organic and medicinal chemistry, particularly the development of novel antithrombotic agents. His group combines chemical synthesis, structure-based design (including cryo-EM), and microscale parallel synthesis for rapid screening and optimization. He is a recipient of the 2025 Innovation Award from the German Chemical Society and the German Pharmaceutical Society, with funding from the German Research Foundation.
